A 'To infinity and beyond' birthday!

This past Saturday we had William's 3rd birthday party. He had decided 6 months ago that it was to be a Buzz Lightyear birthday. Since the last Toy Story movie came out several years ago I had to make a lot of the party items myself and make due on a lot.

Here is the centerpiece I made for the table using the space helmet my parents got for William from NASA.
I took William's beach bucket and taped a Buzz I had printed on the computer.

The goodie bags I made using the same internet clip art of Buzz

Thankfully I have an amazing friend here named Joia. She makes delicious cakes and I asked her if she would just make a cake for us and use the little figure Buzz I had gotten from the internet. THIS is what she showed up with! Totally above and beyond anything I expected. She cut the picture of Buzz out and put it on the cake. It was gorgeous and just as tasty.

I made Joia pose with the cake for me.

William was so excited about his party and even sang the birthday song along with everyone.

We rented a jumpy castle from the base. It was a great way to get the kids to burn off a lot of energy outside during the party.

Oh yeah, I mean a great way to get the kids and Matt to burn off energy.

It was a fun party and William was so exhausted after. I think he was sad when it was over. Tomorrow is his actual birthday and his Cici and Papa are here to celebrate with us.
(I know the commentary on this entry is pitiful but I am exhausted after spending the day on Crab Island. so please forgive me)

Amelia Adventure

This past week we went to Amelia Island Florida for Matt to go to a CME conference. We had a great time and Matt got done with his meetings by noon everyday so we had most of the day to hang out as a family.
The first day we went to historic downtown Fernindina Beach. William was in a bad mood and we thought lunch was going to be a disaster but then we stumbled across this neat bar called The Green Turtle Bar. The owner asked William if he wanted to play a fishing game and went to a cabinet and got out a game for him to play while we waited on our food. She was a God send.

Matt and William playing the fish game while we wait on lunch.

The best way to get around Amelia Island Plantation where we stayed was either by bike or golf cart. We decided to rent two bikes so we could ride around. The beach was so hard we actually rode for a few miles on the sand and hunted for sea shells one day. William loved riding with is daddy.
"Man what a workout"

That evening we went to the "party" thrown by the conference. The food was bad but there was a clown that William loved. The clown was offering face painting and William could not pass up the chance to be spider-man.

He just knew he was spider-man. The fact that everyone recognized him just confirmed it. We went to the boardwalk area after the party and walked around. Every person we passed would say "Hey it's spider-man" and William just strutted his stuff. We had to call him spiderman the rest of the trip.

Our last day on the island we went hunting for sea shells. William (I'm sorry I mean spider-man) had so much fun finding the perfect shells for my collection.

I think this is one of the cutest pictures from the trip.

The last night we went back to the old downtown area and ate at an amazing Italian restaurant and then went on a horse and buggy ride through town. Spider-man loved the horse and even petted him which surprised me. After the buggy ride we went to a coffe shop the driver recommended. I asked William what he wanted and he said a spider-man drink. So I ordered him a smoothie. He started crying saying "no smoothie spider-man drink" so the precious girl behind the counter said "That's what she ordered honey" and then called to the guy making the drinks "one coffee and one spider-man drink" So I thought that was the end of it. Well when the drinks were ready the guy came around the counter and gave the drink to William. He had piped a spider web onto the whipped cream on top. William thought that was too cool.

We're Back!

Okay before everyone starts I KNOW I have been really bad about blogging. After breaking my foot in July it was at the bottom of my list. Then our computer was so bogged down and had zero memory for pictures so blogging still didn't happen. We now have a new computer so blogging will now continue. (PS- no lectures please)

This past weekend our friends Matt Oslick and his wife Mary Ellen (MEO) came down, along with their awesome dog Wookie, for Memorial Day weekend. We had a blast.

Matt, Mary Ellen, and William at the Crab Trap on Sunday

Saturday was bad weather so we went to the Pensacola Naval Air Station Museum. It was SO MUCH FUN. They have cock-pits from different planes for kids and kids at heart to climb into. I just love this picture of William.

After lunch on Saturday we headed over to the Eglin beach and the boys played hard.

Today we went to check out the planes at Eglin and Wookie got to go to this one.

An AC-130 was open today and the guys got in the cockpit and even William gave a gig-em for the camera. It was a great weekend.

Buying boots and seeing great grandparents

We were finally able to get Will some real cowboy boots and a cowboy hat! They are so pretty and he is very proud of them. As soon as we got them on his feet he started stomping around Cavender's saying "boots, boots, boots, hat, hat, hat".

We also made the rounds and spent some time with the great-grandparents.

First we went to see Mema and Daddy Wendell. William found a batman comic book and had Mema read it to him several times.

Later that day we headed back to the farm and spent some time with Nana and Pa.

Pa wanted to know what class William is going to be in at Texas A&M. He also wanted to know if his major was going to be girls.

Then we headed to the restaurant to have dinner with Papa since he had to work and Cici was teaching a night class. It was a nice relaxing day. Blogger is being VERY SLOW so I am not going to post anymore pictures right now. We are currently in Talihina Oklahoma with my parents and are heading to Dallas tomorrow to visit some friends before doing the wedding stuff this weekend. Hopefully I can find a faster connection somewhere and post more later.

HOME SWEET TEXAS!

As soon as we got out in Hooks, we took a deep breath of Texas air and I took a picture of the flag outside Ramage Farms. Papa was watching for us and scooped up his grandson and paraded him around the restaurant.

What a proud papa.

As soon as we got to the house it was time to get ready for Jay's shower. On the way we were able to stop and get our Tex-Mex fix. YUM!

Me and Rica Roo (Erica) enjoying delicious margaritas.

Matt with his brother Caleb.

Sunday we headed to church and then afterwards went to Applebee's with the family for lunch.

This was actually a small crowd we were missing Uncle Curt and Aunt Sara. They were in Dallas getting ready for their son Daniel's wedding. After a good lunch we headed back to the farm and swam.

When Lollipup saw William and Matt in the pool she jumped in. She is Erica and Caleb's new puppy. William got a kick out of watching her.

Caleb with his puppy girl.

Rica and I shelled peas after swimming. I hadn't done that in forever.

Before going to bed William helped Matt blow out his birthday candles. (Matt's B-day isn't until August but Cindy wanted to celebrate it before we headed back to Florida. Nana made him one of her world (okay, Ark-La-Tex) famous italian cream cakes.

Surprisingly enough the fire alarm didn't go off.

That is why we don't have candles after turning 12.

I have a ton more pictures to share but blogger isn't letting me add anymore right now.

Last day of swim lessons.

I was so excited yesterday when one of the dads came to swim lessons with his camera in tow. I got out of the pool and asked him if he would mind taking some with my camera too. I assumed he would take one or two but he was such a sweety and took several during the entire class.

The girl I am talking to is William's instructor, Danielle, she is great with the kids and said William has done a great job.

"Mommy I really don't see the birdy. I think you are just making this up."

We are done with lessons as of today. The class tomorrow is just going to be a play day so Will is going to Mother's Day Out while I come home to pack for out trip home.

When we got home it was too hot to play outside so I got out the trusty "Busy Toddler Book" I found an idea for an indoor sandbox. It suggested using oatmeal or rice in bowls and playing in it like a sandbox. We happened to have a big bag of year old oatmeal that we have not touched so I got it out and poured it into my largest bowl for William to play with. HE LOVED IT! He was really timid about it at first, not wanting to make a mess, but when I started sticking my hands in it and getting silly he quickly caught on. Here is a progression of our mess.

"Okay mom, I guess this is fun."

"Okay, I can get into this."

"This is fun!"

"So who is going to clean this up mom?"

"Oh, never mind"

Matt got home around 7:00. After he took off his uniform William grabbed his hat and jacket and played dress-up.

"I can totally pull of the camo look don't you think guys?"

"Who would have guessed that mommy is a sucker for a man in uniform?"

One more day before we are at the farm!!!
