A 'To infinity and beyond' birthday!

This past Saturday we had William's 3rd birthday party. He had decided 6 months ago that it was to be a Buzz Lightyear birthday. Since the last Toy Story movie came out several years ago I had to make a lot of the party items myself and make due on a lot.

Here is the centerpiece I made for the table using the space helmet my parents got for William from NASA.
I took William's beach bucket and taped a Buzz I had printed on the computer.

The goodie bags I made using the same internet clip art of Buzz

Thankfully I have an amazing friend here named Joia. She makes delicious cakes and I asked her if she would just make a cake for us and use the little figure Buzz I had gotten from the internet. THIS is what she showed up with! Totally above and beyond anything I expected. She cut the picture of Buzz out and put it on the cake. It was gorgeous and just as tasty.

I made Joia pose with the cake for me.

William was so excited about his party and even sang the birthday song along with everyone.

We rented a jumpy castle from the base. It was a great way to get the kids to burn off a lot of energy outside during the party.

Oh yeah, I mean a great way to get the kids and Matt to burn off energy.

Some of our party guests.

It was a fun party and William was so exhausted after. I think he was sad when it was over. Tomorrow is his actual birthday and his Cici and Papa are here to celebrate with us.
(I know the commentary on this entry is pitiful but I am exhausted after spending the day on Crab Island. so please forgive me)

Amelia Adventure

This past week we went to Amelia Island Florida for Matt to go to a CME conference. We had a great time and Matt got done with his meetings by noon everyday so we had most of the day to hang out as a family.
The first day we went to historic downtown Fernindina Beach. William was in a bad mood and we thought lunch was going to be a disaster but then we stumbled across this neat bar called The Green Turtle Bar. The owner asked William if he wanted to play a fishing game and went to a cabinet and got out a game for him to play while we waited on our food. She was a God send.

The best way to get around Amelia Island Plantation where we stayed was either by bike or golf cart. We decided to rent two bikes so we could ride around. The beach was so hard we actually rode for a few miles on the sand and hunted for sea shells one day. William loved riding with is daddy.
"Man what a workout"

That evening we went to the "party" thrown by the conference. The food was bad but there was a clown that William loved. The clown was offering face painting and William could not pass up the chance to be spider-man.

He just knew he was spider-man. The fact that everyone recognized him just confirmed it. We went to the boardwalk area after the party and walked around. Every person we passed would say "Hey it's spider-man" and William just strutted his stuff. We had to call him spiderman the rest of the trip.

Our last day on the island we went hunting for sea shells. William (I'm sorry I mean spider-man) had so much fun finding the perfect shells for my collection.

I think this is one of the cutest pictures from the trip.

The last night we went back to the old downtown area and ate at an amazing Italian restaurant and then went on a horse and buggy ride through town. Spider-man loved the horse and even petted him which surprised me. After the buggy ride we went to a coffe shop the driver recommended. I asked William what he wanted and he said a spider-man drink. So I ordered him a smoothie. He started crying saying "no smoothie spider-man drink" so the precious girl behind the counter said "That's what she ordered honey" and then called to the guy making the drinks "one coffee and one spider-man drink" So I thought that was the end of it. Well when the drinks were ready the guy came around the counter and gave the drink to William. He had piped a spider web onto the whipped cream on top. William thought that was too cool.
