Busy Wednesday

Today we started off at swim lessons again. It was was the first day for William to go underwater and he wasn't as excited about it as I thought he would be. In the past when we go swimming he puts his head underwater on his own and laughs when he comes back up but when I put him under he HATES it.
After lessons we headed over to my friend Jodi's house for our weekly "wifia" lunch. Matt coined the term "wifia" (pronounced : wife-ia) for the wives of everyone in his class. We all network and know what is going on and just take care of each other. These women are a true blessing when we are far from our family. Williams friend Keenan was there when we arrived with his mom Joia. The boys played in Jodi's screened porch before we ate.

Keenan got on top of a box and William thought there was enough room for him too. There was for about a minute and then both came tumbling down. It is a good thing they are both tough boys. They just looked at us and William said "uh-oh"

After a little while our friend Sarah came with her daughter Della. They had gone back to Colorado for a few weeks while her husband Rob was on some really difficult rotations with work. The boys were so excited to see Della. She is the only girl in our group.

William and Keenan almost tackled Della when she came in the door. They were so happy to see her.

The three kids in attendance today : William, Della, and Keenan

We finally got home around 2:30 and William crashed. While he slept I cleaned up his toys and did laundry. I don't know why I try to pick up these toys. "picking up after a toddler is like nailing Jell-o to a tree" I wish I could take credit for that brilliant saying but I can't. I do however repeat it to myself everytime I pick up while he is sleeping because I know the tornado that is William is just going to undo everything I have done as soon as he gets up.

Matt got home around 5:00 and our friends Brittny, Christopher, and Sophie were here playing with William's new train set. When Brittny told Christopher William had a new train set she said he was out the door before she could finish telling him.

After dinner William wanted me to read another book to him but he didn't want me to sit on the couch he wanted to spoon. It was so cute.

I honestly think I have ALL of his books memorized. But I am so glad he loves to read.

Just 10 more days until Matt is on leave and we are heading home! We can't wait.

Banana Bread, Basketball, and Bikes

We started today at the YMCA in Fort Walton for mommy and me swimming lessons. William had a BLAST! I think he is going to take to swimming quite nicely. After getting home William and I decided to make some banana bread. He really loves to cook and gets so excited when I pull the chair into the kitchen for him to help so I am trying to let him help a lot more lately.

My executive chef at work.

Matt got home at 3:30 today! He got to be home when William woke up from his nap and they both wanted some of the bread William made for a snack.

William schooled me in basketball while Matt went running with John. When Matt got home we took William out for a spin on his bike.

It was a busy day of playing! We will be going to swim lessons every morning for the next two weeks so I will be sure to take pictures before we are done.

Busy Monday

Today was busy from the second William and I got up! We left the house at 9:30 to go shopping with the girl I am doing MOPS crafts with next year. We went to Olde Time Pottery, the dollar store and Michaels. William was such a good boy even though we didn't get back to the house until 2:30. I don't know many 2 year olds that will go shopping for 5 hours and be SO GOOD! When we got home William napped from 2:30-5:45. I wanted to wake him up so he would be tired tonight for bed but have learned to not wake him up unless he his stirring of he has a fit. After he woke up Wendi called to see if William and I could babysit Isaac while they looked at a car for sale on base.

Two very cute boys

It's hard to take a picture of yourself while holding a two month old.

Isaac's parents, John and Wendi, got back while Isaac was having a bottle. He let it be known that it was time to eat and my opinion did not matter in the least. Matt rolled in about 7:30 and said he had left a lot of work to be done but was ready to get home. We had leftovers from last night and they were still great. After dinner I turned on the TV and this is what I found.

That's right ALF was on!!!!! I LOVE this show. We watched 3 episodes tonight. It brought back so many memories of watching it with mom and dad. How cool is that?! Matt said I was crazy for taking pictures of the tv but I thought it was blog worthy. You just don't see ALF on the tube anymore.

Good end to a great weekend

Unfortunately this awesome weekend is at an end, but we had a great lazy Sunday. Matt and I went to the 9:42 service at church while William went to his big boy Sunday school class for the 2nd weekend. This is his first Sunday school class that has lessons. He really seems to enjoy it. After Church we had brunch at the officers club and then the boys got their hair cut at the
BX (base exchange). Of course I didn't realize that I left the camera at home until we were half way to church. When we got home William napped and Matt and I watched "No Reservations" with Katherine Zeta-Jones. It was a cute feel good movie.

When William woke up he was ready to play. Matt set up his garden tools we got for him yesterday. There was a shovel, rake, and garden hose attachment. He loved spraying the yard and flowers for me.

"Cheeeeese!"

"Guys I don't know why you complain, yard work is FUN!"

After we were all sick of the bugs we went inside and William did some serious work in his new Thomas the Train coloring book.

While William colored Matt kicked me out of the kitchen. He cleaned and cooked dinner. I got in trouble when I tried to help. How sweet is he! Dinner was DELICIOUS! He made a bowtie pasta with a cream pesto sauce with sundried tomatoes, capers, olives, and grilled chicken. SO GOOD!

What woman doesn't love a man in the kitchen?

Not a bad way to end the weekend.

Christmas in July?

Today was a great day! William was nice to his mommy and daddy and slept until 8:30!!! We all got up and had a relaxed breakfast and then started out the day by heading to the Niceville Children's Park. William had a big time running up the jungle gyms and scooting through the tunnels.

'Stand back mom I am a pro at this!'

I know, you want to eat me up don't you.

Stand back, I'm coming through!

After about 30 minutes we were all hot and ready to go so we headed to Target and William spent his birthday money from Mema, Daddy Wendell, and Cici and Papa. After shopping till we dropped we headed to Cici's Pizza for lunch.

Pizza theif! Notice William is not in a highchair!

After lunch we went to Publix and then home for William's nap. While he took his nap we set up his presents for when he woke up.

If you can't tell this is why I titled this post Christmas in July. (the bike was a present from Nonnie and Poppy for William's birthday but we wanted to hang the helmet on it for this picture.

Aunt Wendi will be proud of this picture!

Daddy, you said this was my train set. I don't know if I believe you.

This evening we headed over to Brandon and Brittny's again. They invited us to help them finish the leftovers from the 4th. They were just as good the second time.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Fantastic 4th of July

We had an amazing 4th of July! Our day started out with William sleeping until 8:00!!! We got up and after breakfast headed out to the beach for the morning. Our friends Joia and her boy Keenan met us there. Her husband Philip had to work so we missed him but still had a great time. Unfortuately my pictures didn't turn out as good as Joia's so I snagged some of her beach pics from her blog.

Here is our first official blog picture. (Matt in his cowboy hat of course)

Joia and her boy Keenan enjoying the water.

After the beach we headed home and let William take a bath and a much needed nap. Matt and I ate some home made icecream that William had help me make yesterday in preperation for the 4th.

Watch out Emeril! (William on the 3rd making the ice cream)

After William woke up from his nap we headed over to Brandon and Brittny's house for some awesome ribs and home made ice cream sandwiches.

Our neighbor Britny and her 5 month old Sophie.

Wendi, John and Isaac even made it over with her brother and sister-in-law.

And you know it is a good party when Matt ends up in William's wagon with a beer.

Brandon and Britny had some friends in from Montgomery, AL. Bert ended up with Matt's hat.

William had too much fun playing in the dirt pit with the other boys.

All three muddy boys got in the tub before fireworks (William, Nicholas, and Christopher)

After the bath we all headed across the street to the bay to watch fireworks. We didn't stay long but saw some good ones. Another show started after we got home but Matt and I decided hanging at the house sounded good so we opened our blinds and watched them from our living room. We hope everyone had a great 4th.
